Zoo

One thing my parents wanted to make sure we did while they were here was going to the NC Zoo. We didn't know what to expect other than we were told that it is a BIG zoo. They were right. We were told to take a full day to go through the zoo. We started in the Africa area and walked our way to the North America area. This zoo puts the little zoo I grew up with in Idaho Falls to same. I love the IF zoo don't get me wrong, but this thing was huge! There were so many exhibits to see. Here are some pictures from our hike(and I really mean hike because it is big).

Entrance to the zoo

I thought these elephants were real at first, but soon realized they were statues.

Grumpy girl didn't want to be in her stroller.

There were statues everywhere.

Another statue.

There was a little area with these Orchids set up for people to take pictures at. Really pretty and it smelled great!

There was a fan in this area to keep everything/everyone cool. Kylie and I liked it alot!

I don't remember what kind of animal these eggs belonged to, but Kylie fit in them well! haha!

Riding a rhino!

This was set up to keep people cool while out at the elephants, rhinos, and other animals that were in a safari like atmosphere. I loved it and want one in my own back yard.

I thought this picture was pretty cool.

Not quite the right size for me.

This was an example of geysers, I think they were trying to replicate our great Old Faithful, but it is nothing compared to the real thing!

Look at the claws on that thing...this was a pretty ugly bear.
It was a fun trip to the zoo, however next time I think we will choose a cooler day so the animals will be a little more active. I'm glad my parents took Kylie and I to the zoo even thought James wasn't able to go. He is really busy in school and studying.

Way Too Long

It has been a long time since I posted anything so there are going to be a lot of pictures here. These are all from when my parents came out to help celebrate Kylie's 1st birthday. We went to many different places a few including the ocean, the mountains, botanical gardens, and the NC zoo. There were quite a few other little places also along the way, but here is the general idea from pictures. (Zoo pictures will be with another post I'm working on as well as Kylie's actual birthday pictures)

We spent a little time in a place called Bath and at the waterfront not too far from my in-laws house.

The ocean was really nice. We visited the nearby Fort Macon as well as went to another beach to look for seashells.

The day we went to the mountains was a little rainy, so we really got to see why they are called the Smokey Mountains.

The botanical gardens were pretty, but the best parts were the little frogs. lizard, and the big chess set.
